Insider’s View of Local Unemployment

Posted by CoraLJohnson on July 3rd, 2009

Recently, I visited the local OneStop office to check the waters of job availibilities. This was a really dismal experience. The doors keep opening and closing like hungry jaws. People keep joining the end of the constantly growing line. The expressions on their faces were interesting to an amazing degree. Many wore the glazed look of shock. Many came prepared for the long haul. These had cellphones glued to ears that were protected by eyes that did not see the “Please turn off cell phones ” sign. I come here once or twice a week to see if any work has been added or if any interested responses have been sent to my email address today. The crowd is multi-cultural, multi-racial and contains a whole range of ages their common plight of unemployment establishes bonds that may not have been possible before now.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CONSUMER AFFAIRS ISSUES TIPS ABOUT FITNESS CLUB MEMBERSHIPS

Columbia, SC…..The recently enacted Financial Identity Fraud and Identity Theft Protection Act (FIFITPA) enables South Carolina consumers to place a security freeze on their credit report free of charge.
Placing a freeze on your credit report prevents anyone from accessing it without your permission, reducing the risk of identity theft. Freezing your credit will not affect your credit score or rating and is completely free of charge.
Consumers considering freezing their credit report will still enjoy fast access to their report. You can temporarily “thaw” or permanently remove the freeze at any time, for any reason. Access to the report must be granted by the credit reporting agency within 15 minutes of your request.
To place a freeze on your credit report, you must contact each of the credit reporting agencies by either certified mail, telephone, or through their website. The credit reporting agency has up to 10 days to provide you with a PIN that will enable you to thaw or permanently lift the freeze as necessary.

Posted by CoraLJohnson on August 6th, 2008

The Home Builders Association has started the ball rolling on bringing the campaign to the Pee Dee to help market our area and the housing options we have. The Board of Directors of the Home Builders Association is committed to actively turning the negative media misinformation around.
This campaign, similar to the Upstate’s campaign will involve the whole building community from mortgage bankers, attorneys, Florence County Economic Development etc. it’s not just about Homebuilders or Realtors…

Contact Cheryl or Pat at 665-5885 to learn more about ways you can give support.
